Inspired by the poem by Samuel Taylor Coleridge 'Rime of the Ancient Mariner' this miniature explores an alternative or 'What if?' scenario in which the accursed sea captain decides instead to scorn god and all his creations instead of reflecting on his torment and choosing the righteous path. I imagine a monster in a state of undeath, floating upon the currents waiting to murder every living thing aboard every vessel it comes across.
