This model is only detailed in the areas that pertains to my cruise over the holidays. From Leon, Nicaragua comes the journey to the roof of the cathedral. Up a spiral stairs in the right rear corner of the courtyard, across a narrow balcony to a second set of stairs. (crowded with tourists!) These stairs in the cathedral go up to the roof. Halfway up the top step turns left 90 degrees into a ledge. The second half goes to the roof from that ledge. Needless to say, it was narrow, dark, and scary. The 2 roofs are barrel vaulted with a valley between them. The outside one goes to the corner tower roof, here represented by the covered area on the 3rd floor terrace. What a view! No railings except on the tower roof, which had round dome on the roof top. This cathedral was built in the 15th century. Most of the 2 story buildings are a block square with a courtyard in the middle. The show side usually is white stucco with a colured band on the bottom. The other sides are raw concrete. Grilles are on the main floor windows. The fountain is a simplified version of one in Cartagena Columbia. The corner watchtower is typical. The master bath vanity (here doubled up) and shower doors come from a Fort Lauderdale, FL. hotel. Leon is a Unesco World Heritage site. Search' Basilica Catredral de la Asuncion de Leon' here. There is an excellent model of the cathedral. The courtyard is 4-sided, however. Google Earth also has pictures of it in Leon, Nicaragua. house home building residential exterior exterior exterior house house exterior residential building residential house
