This floating "lily pad" provides an easy escape from the pool for the occasional wandering chipmunk, etc.
The ramp connects to a pair of grips placed on the edge of standard pool edge pre-cast coping. The lily pad and ramp rise and fall with the changing water height.
The lily pad float piece is 20.1cm x 20.6cm x 8.5cm.
Assembly
Printed in PETG, 0.2mm layer height, 25% infill, three layers on top/bottom/sides. No supports.
Optional: Pause the lily pad mid-print (at Z=15mm) to place pieces of float-able foam into the interior chambers. This maintains a higher float level if water leaks into the interior chambers.
Use a piece of filament to connect the ramp to the lily pad. A soldering iron on low heat is used to slightly mash the ends of the filament so that the filament will stay in the hinge.
Adaptation for pools that do not use the same coping edge
Print and assemble the lily pad and ramp. Tie a cord to the anchor tabs at the top corners of the ramp; and tie the other end of the cord to a suitable pool edge anchor point.
