Two-level cage made from an Ikea BILLY. Two shelves are included - the second shelf is turned on end at the bottom to create a deep burrowing area. Simple framed doors are made from 1x1/2 furring strips, hardware cloth, small hinges, and a window sash lock. Recommend beginner DIYers using brackets or staples for connecting the frame together. Levels are connected at exterior using hamster tubes (Crittertrail, Ovo, etc.) through holes drilled in the side panel. The included plastic connector should suffice to keep the tubes in place while protecting edges of wood from chewing, assuming the hole is not drilled too big. Option #2 is to drill through the shelf and keep the tubes inside the cage. All hardware can be found at Lowe's or any hardware store.
