...made the Kessel Run in less than 12 parsecs. In other words - this is the clamp you're looking for...
Update 2016-08-12:
Have now posted wide versions including "toothed" ones.
What is it:
A simple clothepin-clamp primarily meant as a stop-clamp for spool holders using threaded M8 rods. It should hopefully only press on the inner ring of bearings that are used in conjuction with the clamp.
Usage:
Just loop a rubberband around the clamp a few times.
Default scale is for M8 rods but it should scale slightly to work with other dimensions. It depends on your nozzle and (but to a lesser degree) your print speed.
Also...
Not really necessary... but I've placed a small guide hole on one side of the pivot. So if you wish to mount the two pieces of the clamp together using a small nail, just drill this out, push the nail through both pieces and bend the nail on the other side to lock it in place. Make extra sure you print the clamp using 100% infill.
Note:
Clamp-Z wasn't really meant to be published as a single thing. But I thought the shape came out nice so I simplified it as a standalone version for anyone to use. A custom Clamp-Z will probably be a part of my Wanhao i3 Spool Holder M8 Upgrade Kit (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1680153) further down the line...
Also...
I might also post a model of the Clamp-Z intended for threading with instructions later on. But I doubt instructions are necessary :-)
For the threaded version you will need a pair of large pliers, heatgun and a M8 bolt longer than the width of the Clamp-Z.
Have fun clamping!
