This is a model of the 22-story landmark of western Central Florida, located in the rolling hills of Clermont, Florida. Built in 1956, the Citrus Tower was, and still is, an icon of the Florida Citrus Industry. After the freezes of the late 1980's, most of the citrus growers either sold their land to developers and moved further south or got out of the industry altogether. Today, visitors can still pay a small fee and ride the elevator to the observation deck and see the Walt Disney World Resort Complex (24 miles away), downtown Orlando (26 miles) and 8 counties amid surburban neighborhoods. It's worth taking a short trip from the crowded tourist areas and stopping by for a nostalgic view of Florida's pre-Disney days. #wwwcitrustowercom
