Fool of Budapest The Fool of Budapest is a typical chess opening trap, which consists of a checkmate in a few moves. It takes its name from the gambit of Budapest and in fact it is a possible evolution. The moves (in algebraic notation) are: 1.d4 Cf6 2.c4 e5 3.dxe5 Cg4 4.Af4 Cc6 5.Cf3 Ab4 + 6.Cbd2 De7 7.a3 Cgxe5 8.Cxe5 Cxe5! taking us to the position of the figure. If white falls into the trap and tries to gain figure 9 a: b4 ??, Cd3 #! one arrives at the fool with the only checkmate of a horse because the white king remains a prisoner of his own pieces. This type of checkmate is called drowned mad. #chess #budapest #Traps in opening
