The opening, which aims at the flanking of the female bishop, appears to be the sixth 'first move' in popularity. The success of this opening diminished for a while when Larsen lost a famous game against Boris Spassky in just 17 moves in 1970. Among the Great Masters who successfully used it, it is worth mentioning the naturalized Latvian GM, Vladimir Bagirov, who obtained +50 –7 = 36 with it. It is currently frequently adopted by the Hungarian GM Richard Rapport. In 2018, GM Wesley So published a DVD on this opening. #chess #Larsen opening #Side openings
