Anderssen opening The Anderssen opening is the opening in the game of chess where White plays a3 This opening owes its name to Adolf Anderssen, who played it three times in a row in his games in 1858 against Paul Morphy. Given its rarity it is classified in the encyclopedia of chess openings among those of code A00. Analysis The rarity of this opening is due to the fact that it does little or nothing for the development of the White or for the control of the center. The obvious aim of opening a game with 1.a3 is to want to transpose into other openings after the natural answer 1 ... e5: 2.c4 leads to a Sicilian defense with inverted colors, where the advanced pawn is useful. However, using a time to move a pedestrian up to the first move is premature. However, the Anderssen opening is not the worst. Although it is a very constructive move, it is not as destructive as Barnes (1.f3). #chess #Anderssen opening #Irregular openings
