Alechin defense The Alechin defense is a semi-open chess game opening characterized by moves 1. e4 Cf6. It takes its name from the Russian champion Aleksandr Alechin, who used it for the first time in the 1921 Budapest tournament against Endre Steiner. Analysis With section 1. ... Cf6 Black wants to lure white pawns forward, hoping then for them to weaken (which will make them the target of easy attacks). The onset of this opening at great levels caused a sensation, given that the transfer of central space to the White seemed a folly; but Alechin proved its validity by obtaining a victory and a draw. Other proponents of this plant were Ernst Grünfeld and Adolf Albin. In subsequent theoretical analyzes it became clear that White, in order to counter this openness, should limit the advance of his pedestrians to what is strictly necessary for the control of the center: in this way Black is limited and White returns to have an advantage for the game . #chess #Alechin defense#Half-open game
