Caro-Kann defense The Caro-Kann defense is a semi-open chess game opening characterized by moves: e4 c6 It was touted and found a first theoretical formulation in the nineteenth century by the English chess player Horatio Caro, who carried out part of his activity in Germany, which published some analyzes in 1896, and from a minor player, Markus Kann, of Viennese origin. Adopted by Szymon Winawer in 1883, it was made known and appreciated by José Raúl Capablanca.
