Hi All

Firstly I wanted to say how great it is to have new challenges on GrabCAD, and especially such high caliber ones!

With that said my entry to the project focused on structural strength and simplicity, the design has one structural part designed to take the majority of tensile load, this structural shell is designed and optimised through FEA to dissipate stress through the large radii in each shoulder, the secondary stress point of the stud interface has been made stronger by connecting material around the 0.785" holes.
The concept works by using an over center interference fit cam lock that allows the railing to slide in before locking with a turn of the quick release handle.

The FEA analysis assumes a yield strength of 40MPa but I couldn't back this up from the project specs, 125lbf applied to bearing faces of stud interface acting outwards, constrained by railing. the max stress allows for a FOS of 2.
Volume of material (Total) 99x10^3 mm^3
