Central's Ship 416 'Clockliner Denver' as it appeared in 1972. 'Clockliner Denver' served the Seattle to Denver route until 1992, when Ship 132, an MD-90-30, replaced it. It was transferred to African service, where it continued to fly on a central African route. In 2006, Ship 416 operating as Flight 1162 experienced a rudder hardover and crashed, killing all 41 on board. 8 were Kenyan, 14 were from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, 6 were British, four were Portugese and the 10 remaining passengers and crew members were American. It is the sixth worst crash in Central's history. Number five on the list is Flight 2580 in 1958, an L-1049 Constellation which crashed into a mountain in southern Peru killing all 102 people aboard. The fourth is Flight 91 in 1977, a 747SP which crashed on landing killing 138 of the 288 people aboard. The third being Flight 909 in 1969, a DC-8-61 which crashed after hitting an Eastern DC-8-61 over Los Angeles, killing all 239 aboard and 20 on the ground. Second is Flight 1638, a 767 which collided with a V2 777 near Hawaii, killing all 366 people onboard. The worst is of course, the infamous Flight 6 in 1968, a DC-6B which was bombed by a KKK terrorist over Montgomery, Alabama, crashing into the city killing all 70 on the DC-6B along with 396 people on the ground.
