I like to alternate between Flights of Fancy Designs and then Realistic Designs, just to keep things interesting. Therefore, here we have one of the most Realistic Plane Designs I have ever done. Corporacia Disseny Aerodinamic The CDA PTT-228 “Colom.” Small Tactical Transporter (Petit Transportador Tactic) 28 meters long 32 meters wide. Powered by 2 Turboprops, each outputting 4,900shp. Range 2,800 Miles, and Top Speed is 450mph. Cruising speed is 415mph Crew is 3: Pilot, Co-Pilot and Loadmaster Empty Weight: 48,265k lbs Loaded weight 101,345k lbs The Colom was designed to operate in battlefield conditions and is capable of taking off and landing from very small fields, less than 850 meters, fully loaded aka STOL. It is capable of doing this due to the wing roots utilize blown flaps with the exhaust from both engines capable of being directed for short periods of time direct to these ports. The Colom is also very maneuverable at low altitudes. The design was to be built around the idea of inserting SpecOps behind enemy lines and then being able to retrieve them. Thus, all Military versions of the Colom excel at knap-of-the-Earth Flying while loaded with up to 48 fully Kitted Soldiers/Paratroopers After the SpecOps parameters were specified and met, the Colom was then designed to be as reliable and simple to use in the field as possible. The Controls are primarily Fly by Wire, but there are 2 hydraulic back up systems aboard, with conduit aboard to even run a mechanical system(?) Unusually for a transport, the Colom includes a set of Air Brakes. These contribute to its ability to stop in extremely short distances. The Colom is relatively expensive, but its versatility and survivability makes it an attractive choice. CDA has a version of the 228 (C228) designed for civilian use. It lacks the blown roots, but excels at High and Hot operations in undeveloped fields. Thus it is a favorite among various NCOs in the world. Capabilities fall between a Lockheed C-130 and a CASA CN235. Version shown is the PTT228.v6. This is distinguished by the 5 bladed propellers and is currently the most used version in the Occitanian Army. All Parts are made by me, Ryksuga. #C130 #c-130 #CN235 #cargo_plane #cargo #specop #special_operations #Occitan #turboprop #STOL #YC14 #YC15
