Onze-Lieve-Vrouwekathedraal or the Cathedral of Our Lady of Antwerp has been built between 1352 and 1521. Architects were Jacob van Tienen, Jan and Pieter Appelmans, Jan Tac, Everaert Spoorwater, Herman and Domien the Waghemakere and Rombout Keldermans II. The church is one of the peaks of the Brabantine Gothic. With 123 meters the tallest church tower in the Benelux , the impressive northern tower is also a belfry and is included on the world heritage list of UNESCO, as part of a list of bellfries in Belgium and France. The southern tower would have been identical but is never completed. With seven aisles, the cathedral is the largest church in the Benelux. The church was a cathedral between 1559 and 1803 and as from 1961 until now. The bright interior contains mainly baroque furniture. In the cathedral are four Rubens masterpieces. #Antwerp #Antwerpen #belfort #belfry #Belgie #Belgium #België #brabantine_gothic #brabantse_gotiek #cathedral #Cathedral_of_Our_Lady #church #Domien_de_Waghemakere #Everaert_Spoorwater #gotic #goticism #gotiek #gotisch #Herman_de_Waghemakere #Jacob_van_Tienen #Jan_Appelmans #Jan_Tac #kathedraal #kerk #OnzeLieveVrouwekathedraal #Pieter_Appelmans #Pieter_Paul_Rubens #Rombout_Keldermans_II
