Hi people !
This is 3D printed hook for homemade Horizontal Rod for fixing a roof bag on a car
This hook is designed for FIAT PANDA 2004 series roof rod but can fit on other car too, you have to check the compatibility of my work to your car.
Those hook can actually wear 50 Kg in the roof bag and more (on the picture, i'm inside and weigh 59 Kg )
With solidwork study of resistance, the whole structure (with aluminium rectangular profile so called Alu PAF can support more than 300 Kg, i will not try that much but it can theorically speaking)
I tested this at 20 Km/h to 120 km/h with 40 Kg inside and done a quick brake test to see if it broke, nothing broke and nothing moved even 1 mm
I highly recommend to use ABS / ABS-PC / NYLON for this, high resitance, nearly no flexibility and a high melting point due to climatic reason.
I highly recommend to do a smooth heat treatment to your pieces for smoothing surface and limit the possibility of fissure in very long therm or brutal use.
This project will required you :
-8 M8 L90 H/CHC screw
-8 M8 large washer
-4 M8 bolt
-4 My NYLSTOP bolt
-12 M6 L50 H/CHC screw
-12 M6 NYLSTOP bolt
-Anti slip tape
-*2 Aluminium rectangulare tube 48/32 4mm thick (you can use other rectangulare size, check what you can get close to this, don't touch the thickness) for my car it was 1200 mm long (fiat panda 2004), check for yours.
WARNING for your security
1 DOn't print this if you have a floppy sloppy 3d printer, be strict about the quality of what you print because YOUR LIFE and OTHER PEOPLE LIFE can be in danger if you make something that break on the road !
2 TAKE SERIOUS CONCERN about the whole description of this project
3 BE STRICT about the quality of what you print
4 IF YOU ARE SKILLED and have a small butane firetorch, try to make a heat threatment, it prevent future crack and smooth surface.
5 All the parameter i tell here are fonctionnal for my car, if you move a things i can't garanty you the same result as me.
6 This is my project, i would be very of you to take picture of you around the world with this, really :)
7 I don't allow people to sell this with any kind of profit ! This project by just 3D printing cost 30€ no more for the electricity and plastic, i say this because i don't want to find any kind of profit on this work. It is made for helping, not for making your buisness you crazy 3d printer addict :D
8 The weigh i have tested was 58 Kg not in movement and +-40Kg in movement. My roof bag is for 50 kg maximum in movement. Don't go over this or make lot of test before really going on vacation

Steps:
1 Make sure the parameter and quotations fit to what you need.
2 Print the parts and by the Alu PAF and screw/bolt
3 Heat treatment
4 Put non slip tape in the inside place where it will grip on the longitudinal rod, it hold in place the structure while drinvand and limit vibration/slipping
5 Fix the four hook on the longitudinal rod where they belong the best about you roof bag and symmetrical (i didn't mention it later but i checked every movement and everything every distance for having a perfect symmetry)
6 With a pen, draw the front6/6back M6 holes position on the AluPAF and drill them
7 Fix all the screw and bolt
8 Fix your roof bag
9 Drink a beer, or a tea if you"re soft but don't drink and drive. Beer and Tea are precious.
