I was painting an ASR threaded tube and a 1.025" XRT tube and was looking for an easy way to hold them during painting and while drying. In the past I've slid them over a piece of PVC but this didn't work well for the smaller diameter 1.025" tube and it really didn't work great for larger 1.5"+ ASR threaded tubes either.
I designed a handle that threads into each of these tubes so it could plug the threads and keep them from getting painted and to give me a way to hold the tube and rotate it while I painted. I created a hollow section at the end that would allow it to slide over a 1/2" PVC pipe. That pipe could be clamped in a vise, stuck in my lawn, leaned against my work bench, etc while the paint dried.
