This is a cap meant to protect the electrical connectors for an electrically assisted bicycle using Shimano E-6000 battery. It will help to protect the components from rain and other elements when the battery is removed for charging or storage.
The cap has a lip on the top and is designed to be a tight-fit around the block containing the electrical connectors.
The Shimano STePS system is used on some current Trek eBikes. The battery must be removed from the bike for charging. It may be desirable to protect the electric connectors when the bike is stored outdoors.
I have added a piece of foam to the inside of the cap, which sits against the electrical connectors on the bike. The bottom of the cap is open to prevent moisture from getting trapped inside the cap.
