I have designed a mechanism that can easily be attached to a stick or similarly sized rod that allows marshmallows, hotdogs, and other roastable foods to be easily cooked over an open fire. The mechanism combines aspects of nature and modern innovation to bridge the boundaries between the basic act of roasting food in the wilderness with a stick over fire, while being more convenient and cleansy. The idea was based both on personal experience and others attempts at a similar idea. The initial idea was created in response to the difficulties of cooking with a sharpened stick. As a result, the innovation was made to better hold the food being cooked, so that it may easily be cleaned, and to avoid the troublesome period of time finding the correct stick and sharpening it. To solve these issues, the skewers of the innovation will curve out and and have some flexibility so that when food is put on, the skewers may be pushed together creating tension and a greater hold on the food when cooking. The mechanism will be made out of metal due to intense heats from being near the fire and the metal design makes it easy to clean. Finally, the innovation itself removes the necessity to find “the perfect stick” or sharpen it. The innovation overall eases the enjoyable time of cooking over an open fire in the wilderness.
