C-Beam Camera Stand v2
by Thingiverse
Last crawled date: 5 years, 5 months ago
This is a redesign of my earlier copy stand (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3785274) that uses Openbuilds V-slot mini-wheels and 688zz bearings because the smoothness of the old design's printed wheels was awful.
This design also uses less filament and is easier to put together since the outer frame comes in two parts.
Part Descriptions
Instructions and BOM in progress, but please feel free to grab the sketchup file and work it out for yourself.
Gantry Parts
inner_frame.stl, outer_fixed.stl and outer_adj.stl are the central structure for the gantry. These must be printed twice.
wheel_spacers.stl contains the spacers and eccentric adjustable cams. Again, you will want two sets of these.
arca_clamp_end.stl is the end-piece for the arca-swiss clamp, designed for the cheap ebay ones with 3 x 1/4" holes, each 30mm apart (eg. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/293050803785).
end_cap.stl is simply an end cap so the camera arm can't escape.
outer_trim.stl is a trim plate to cover hole in the outer frame pieces if your bridges are ugly like mine.
Motion "system" parts (don't laugh)
teeth.stl are mounted on the inside of the C-beam with the flat sides pointing up. These engage with...
block.stl, so you can set the height of the gantry and the maximum extension of the camera arm.
Extras
usb_battery_pack_holder.stl holds by ancient Xiaomi USB battery bank. These are discontinued, but there are no doubt similar models that will fit.
right_angle_brace.stl is fairly self-exlpanatory. The base of my stand is a piece of C-beam with some old 2040 offcuts. The vertical column and side braces are held together with 4 of these.
