Did not like any of the BTT smart filament sensor mounting things already posted.
They all seemed precarious to me. Press fit over the edge of the sheet metal or cantilevered off the Z-axis nut screws.
This one mounts on to the V-roller bolt.
To guide the filament into the extruder I made a few mounting pieces for a section of bowden tube. No need to use a air fitting here since you don't care if the tube moves along the filament. Just need to hold the alignment. There is not a lot of space for a air fitting either.
One piece is just collar to shrink the ID of the outlet of the sensor down to 4mm.
The second piece is a common filament guide. Technically a remix but it is my own ground up modeling.
2/5: Added a Dual Gear Extruder variant. I don't own one. Ended up getting the dimensions off another thing. It's probably correct but can't say 100%.
Assembly.
Take the M5 nut off the v-roller bolt.
Insert into the sensor mount.
Attache the mount to the back of the sensor.
Mount the filament guide to the Z-axis. Only uses the rear screw so its pretty simple.
Install the collar into the sensor.
Insert a length of bowden tube into the collar.
Insert other end of bowden tube with the sensor into the filament guide.
Screw it onto the v-roller bolt.
To get the right length of bowden tube, you may need to make a dry fit to measure the length.
