The long story: I broke the air nipple on the X1 extruder. The nipple was a real PITA to start with so no big loss. And I had spares, somewhere. I could not find the spares but I found a M5-nipple and a B’Struder I printed a long time ago. The M5 nipple went on the B’Struder so the B’Struder went on the X1. It worked better then with the broken nipple but not too well . The extruder wheel I had was for 3mm filament and I could not get the spring tension right. I like the B’Struder a lot, except for the spring that is hard to fit and hard to get right. On the other hand, the solution for the spring on the X1 is nice, I had all the other hardware and a few M10 air nipples. So I fired up the CAD and made a B’Struder for the X1 parts minus the nipple. It works great. I had to reverse the extruder motor in the first extruder change. The process involves fidgeting around with very small plastic parts that easily brake with grave consequences. I decided against restoring the rotation to original.
PLEASE NOTE!!
The pictures show a CV extruder, the X1 motor is CCV original!
Also note that the base of this B’Struder is thinner then on the original because of the plate holding the motor.
Happy printing!
