Brooklin Water Tower (1960-2009)

Located in the community of Brooklin, Ontario, Canada, the Brooklin Water Tower was constructed in 1960. At 110 ft. (33.5 m) tall, and with a capacity of 75000 imp. gal. (340956 litres), it had adequate capacity for the its residents. But as the community grew, so did water demand. Lacking pumps to supplement demand, it could go empty in less than an hour on a dry summer evening. In Jun 2008, the Duff's Road Reservoir, a below ground tank located at a higher elevation than the Brooklin Water Tower, come on line. This was the death knell for the Brooklin Water Tower. It was dismantled and removed in mid 2009, forever changing the Brooklin skyline. This model is provided as a bit of history, of what I think is a fine example of utilitarian engineering displaying a symmetric aesthetically pleasing design.
