Got a broken laptop that the only thing wrong with it is the housing is busted up? Then this might be the conversion kit for you!
!!!IMPORTANT!!!
MAKE SURE you drill the holes for the motherboard stilts in the proper places to keep them straight! You ABSOLUTELY DO NOT want to put unnecessary stress on any of the boards. You can CRACK THE BOARDS if you do and that will definitely BREAK THE COMPUTER BEYOND REPAIR!!!
The motherboard stilts are designed to be paused twice to inset nuts in them. One in the bottom and one in the top so you can secure the motherboard first, mark your legs, drill your holes, then bolt the plexiglass to the other end of the stilt.
The base piece is sized for 7mm plexiglass for the back and 2mm plexiglass for the front.
I did not add any holes for bolts as you will need to drill the plexiglass anyway. I just drilled the holes in the parts and the plexiglass at the same time for mine.
I used nuts as spacers for the corner connectors but you could also just scale the z for them and then you would need to use fewer nuts.
I also included a model for wall mounts for 7mm plexiglass that I didn't end up using.
As for my settings, I generally use a 0.6mm nozzle but you could definitely use a 0.4mm one also and you may even be able to get away with up to 0.8mm. I went with 0.2mm layer height for most of the pieces but you could honestly go with 0.4 or so easily for most of the parts and still get good results. I used 2 walls and between 10%-20% infill just like at random pretty much depending on how I was feeling lol. I used 3 bottom layers and 5 top layers for no reason in particular but they turned out pretty good that way so it might be good to know.
Absolutely feel free to remix your own power button holder, speaker holder, etc! Cause you are going to have a very hard time finding two laptop models that share the same shape for a lot of those parts but this should be a good jumping-off point.
I very slightly modified Gandalfwiz20007's DVD Drive Enclosure so I could bolt it to the plexiglass. It's a well-fitted model so thank them for it too! =Dhttps://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3797772
I will add more info as I think of things for this conversion kit! I have one more computer to convert soon also so I will probably add alternates for some of the parts when I do!
