Broken bridge Adyar River in Chennai (Madras), India. The bridge was built to facilitate the movement of fishermen from Santhome beach to Elliot's beach over the mouth of the Adyar river. The bridge spans across the Adyar estuary bordering the backend of the Theosophical Society. The bridge partly collapsed due to strong currents of the river during a particular monsoon, and has never been repaired.It remains unknown to most people because the only way to the bridge is by foot or a 4WD car.Those who have been there consider it to be among the most serene places in the city. The Broken Bridge has become a popular spot to view the sunset and has been attracting youth. The area is generally considered unsafe after dark due to its proximity to fishing hamlets and lack of road access.
