This is add-on to my Universal Spool Holder. As mentioned by Jaecko here"... the holder is so smooth running that the spool uncoils a bit when the extruder yanks at the filament."
I had the same issue and even couple of failed prints because of this, so I ended-up designing this "brake" that fixed the problem.
Part1 is attached to the printer permanently. The rest is removable. I uploaded 2 versions of part2. Part2.stl is for the original Vertex, part2evo.stl is for VertexEvo with 3mm thick aluminium enforcement bars.
Part3 is designed to fit eSun and Shaxon 1kg filament spools. If you are using spools of different width - resize part3. Part3.sat file is attached.
You will need to glue a strip of rubber to the areas of part3 that touch the spool.
Three M3 x 12mm and one M3 x 16mm screws were used to put parts together.
Two M8 x 25mm screws and two M8 self-locking nuts serve as a ballast. If you want to use different type of ballast - redesign part5. Part5.sat file is also attached. The weight of ballast should be around 50 grams.
You will need to replace M5 screws to the longer ones to attach part1 to the side panel. With my VertexEvo I used M5 x 25mm screws. For the original Vertex - M5 x 20mm screws should work.
