We developed a box with a stand to repackage the PlayStation 3 Eye camera for infrared tracking purposes. The front side of the box features multiple holes for 5mm IR LEDs and the holes are slightly tilted to increase the illuminated area. The box is equipped with a pocket for an USB-B socket and for a 5mm barrel connector socket to power the IR illumination.
We use the IR cameras to track a head position and a position of a half transparent mirror in a seated augmented reality setup. For more details on our Light Chisel project, see the project site:http://dcgi.felk.cvut.cz/projects/lightchisel/
