Are you thrifty? Do you hate wasting that last little bit of soap or shampoo in the bottom of a bottle? Are you looking for a simple and straightforward way to upend the old bottle over the new one without making a serious mess? Are your arms tired from standing around in your very comfortable but slightly threadbare bathrobe holding two bottles together for 15 minutes while the dregs of one drains into the other?
Oh boy, have I got something for you! As do about thirty other clever modelers who got as frustrated as I did and designed something to make their life minimally meaningfully easier, and shared it on Thingiverse. So, there's that.
After looking around I didn't find precisely what I was looking for off the Thingiverse shelf, so I sat down and quickly knocked something out from scratch. As seems to be a theme with my other models, this is the "Goldilocks" version of what I wanted, but couldn't find in one place elsewhere.
KISS: Keep It Simple, Stupid:
Versatile: No threads, these are smooth-sided cylinders that, as long as your bottle neck is the same size or slightly smaller than the opening, will do a fine job of keeping your bottles standing upright (threads can vary from brand to brand and country to country... this just works).
Tidy: There is a funnel in the middle that will keep the laws of fluid dynamics from having a laugh at you by making your counter top a mess, by ensuring no liquid can make its way to the edge of the bottle being drained into.
Sturdy: Can be chucked into that utility drawer and have other stuff chucked on top if it. People call it a junk drawer but we know, you and I, that it's a gold mine of useful treasures. Also, not so sturdy as to be obnoxiously bulky.
I made four different sizes to accommodate the most common bottles I personally encounter. Sizes below are the I.D. of the coupler, so just take your handy dandy caliper (I know you have one) and measure the O.D. of the bottle neck including the threads to find your match.
25mm: Hand soap pump bottles and the like.
28mm: Dish detergent and normal "mortal" sized bottles of shampoo and conditioner.
32.5mm: Jumbo bulk-club sized pump bottles of shampoo and conditioner.
32.5mm to 37.75mm adapter: This... is an oddball. Made this to drain the dregs of conditioner from a jumbo pump bottle (which, when you get to the bottom gets harder to actually pump out) into a smaller bottle with a wider mouth that it can be squeezed out of. Who knows, someone might find it useful.
Print, use, enjoy, then marvel your newfound quality of life.
