could be implemented in initial design or added onto existing slower speed ships with water flaps that open when it bobs up and close on downward thrust. might make 10 - 20% more efficient hauls by guess.
only an unproven concept for now but should work according to hydrodynamics the ammount and angles may need improving.
in theory you would be able to power it on wave power/bouyancy alone to get the design proper before adding motors.

the pontoons could be spring loaded to bounce the center more and foldable incase it capsizes and flips back over , then they could be flooded and reinflated after the storm.
would help when wind is not available to get you away from rock faces when sailing or when traveling upwind. also could navigate ships back to shore on its own if it ends up getting lost because of its tendency to travel into the waves due to hull drag and forward thrust.
might put a locking flap on the back to allow waves to push the boat.
