Custom BMW S1000RR screams retro, but delivers knock-out punch of stock bike. When we saw this beautiful custom-built BMW S1000RR flash across our Instagram feed via our friends over at Bike EXIF, we knew we had to share it with the Cycle World readers. It's not often that we see fully-modern, yet retro-themed sportbike builds, least not based on the most potent pound-for-pound superbike on the market today. The Praëm BMW S1000RR chassis retains its stock electronic suspension and engine. Carbon wheels and carbon/ceramic brake discs are the only chassis mods. Commissioned by BMW France, the Paris-based Praëm custom shop went to work to create this machine that was inspired by the Suzuka 8-Hour machines of the 80s. The retro-styled bodywork features an offset headlight characteristic of the era, while the paint pays homage to BMW’s 3.0 CSL Alexander Calder liveried 24 Hours of Le Mans race car. The tail section is a stubby endurance-style unit with custom subframe. The fuel tank/airbox cover has been stretched by around two inches and features an endurance-style dry-break fuel filler. Designed to mimic the Superbike Endurance Racers of the 80s, this BMW S1000RR has an ultra-unique look, with a proven donor bike underneath. The “tank” has been stretched and fitted with a dry-brake racing fuel filler. Rizoma bar-end mirror and brake-lever guard are used. Wheels are carbon-fiber units made by Rotobox, while carbon-ceramic Sicom brake discs are used up front. Underneath its retro-themed styling is a stock S1000RR, right down to the electronic suspension, while the engine remains stock except for the addition of an Akrapovic exhaust system with a period-correct looking silencer. If you like what you see and don't already follow Bike EXIF in your social feed, we suggest you do so now. Shorty three-quarter fairing reveals the custom engine side covers, which were cast with cooling fins for that retro 80s look. A stubby endurance-style tail section has a custom subframe, while an Akrapovic exhaust is capped with a stubby silencer. At speed, the Praëm BMW S1000RR is just as potent as the stock bike. #bavarian #bmw #motor #motorrad #works
