Blender is a free and multi-platform software for modeling, rigging, animation, video editing, composition, rendering and texturing of three-dimensional and two-dimensional images. It also has features for UV mapping, fluid, coatings, particle simulations, other non-linear simulations, and 3D game / application creation. Blender comes with a robust set of features that are comparable in features and complexity to other well-known 3D modeling programs such as Softimage XSI, Cinema 4D, 3D Studio Max, LightWave 3D and Maya. Among the features of Blender there is also the use of raytracing and scripting (in Python).
