This entry focuses more on how to adapt a multireader to different applications (POS, kiosk, mobile) and regulations (OSHA, ADA), and as such, a simple "tablet" reader has been shown. For OSHA I considered neck strain (cashier looking down all day) and the ergonomics of different table heights/depths, and for ADA I considered visually impaired and wheelchair-bound customers.

One unique feature is a Reader/Keypad module that can be rotated and installed backwards depending on the application (POS vs. kiosk). When the module is needed for remote or mobile applications, the cavity can be replaced with either a Dummy Cover or a Battery Pack (GREEN), respectively.

I have also included an optional Printer (BLUE) that is integrated into the large hinge elements.

Kiosk Configurations (Screen and Reader face same direction):
1) Wall Mount
2) Tabletop Mount (same as Wall Mount shown)
3) Mounted on Extension Arm (for ADA)
4) Ceiling Mount (for marketing and/or location where floor outlet is not available) - see separate drawing

POS Configurations (Screen and Reader face opposite directions):
1) Reader module is mounted remotely
2) Reader is mounted such that the whole unit can be rotated towards the customer as needed
3) Reader is mounted on a hinge so that lowering the Screen "extends" the Reader out to the customer (for ADA)
4) Reader is mounted opposite from Screen (narrow table application) - see separate drawing

Mobile Configuration:
1) Reader is removed and replaced with Battery Pack (GREEN). Screen and Reader placed in protective sleeves (RED)

NOTE: Only a general concept has been presented at this time, so items are not drawn to scale and many details (connectors, internals) have been left out.
