G'day,
Have you ever wanted a Mech Recovery Vehicle for BatteTech... I have, for a long time. I mean, we all talk about salvage, but how does it actually happen, right? It's a long drive from the battle site to your dropship...
Therefore, I present the Reclaimer A-MRV. A 90-ton (homebrew) MRV with SP trailer - able to recover up to and including Assault-class BattleMech salvage from anywhere on the battlefield. It is based upon the venerable Demolisher tank chasis (and the model is kitbashed/remixed from various files available on Thinigverse).
I actually put some considered thought into designing this vehicle. It is modelled in concept on real-life ARVs, and they way they operate in the modern battle space; but the A-MRV adds a self-propelled bed/tray truck at the back (as a 'Mech is not going to be able to be towed like a wheeled or tracked armoured vehicle could). There is one heavy-duty winch (ie. for assault 'Mech class use) which can be routed through the crane-arm on the engine vehicle, or through the structure on the bed/tray. The bed/tray is attached to a booming strut used to extend it and partially tilt the tray to help drag it onto the platform. Then the 6 smaller winches on the tray are used to adjust the wreck and secure the 'Mech for transport. The A-MRV is intended to be used for recovery back to a field repair site or salvage reclamation base, not for in-situ repair.
