This is a battery holder that can be added to a Baddeley MKIII Astromech droid. It mounts via a modified AnkleSupportBar2 which is the longer support piece for the large AnkleSupport that sits at the bottom of the body.
This holder is designed to hold a pair of Dakota Lithium 12V10Ah LiFePo4 batteries. The plate is large enough to support an additional pair of batteries (4 total) but I have not yet created the surround or the strap for the 4-battery configuration. The plate inclides slots at the ends for the 4 battery surround, so the plan is for the plate to work for both 2 and 4 battery configurations.
I have also included the modified AnkleSupportBar2 file that has the mounting holes and slots for the captive nuts added to it.
Hardware Required:
8x thin M4 square nuts (or 6x thin and 2x regular to use on the thumbscrews)
2x M4x25mm bolts (for the thumbscrews)
2x M4x18mm bolts (to attach the plate to the ankle support)
4x M4x10mm bolts (to attach the battery surround to the plate)
No supports are needed when printing these files as long as you orient the plate and the battery surround upside down (they should default to the correct orientation). I printed mine at .2 layer height with 4 perimeters (this made the strap almost solid). Some of the tolerances might be a bit tight depending on your printer, but it’s nothing a bit of filing can’t fix.
