Most bassists like to play over the pickup.
The bass ramp is a combination of having a place for your thumb and the feel of having something under your fingers while thinning out right away after the attack from playing too hard. Playing only over the pickup will get you a nice punchy mid-range sound, but moving your hand around will allow you to get other types of sounds.
It fits perfectly on my Washburn Taurus T25 with the bridge pickup slightly higher (by 3mm).
Unless you have the same bass (with the same pickup configuration) I recommend to use it just as a starting point model to adapt it to your bass
