All this came about because I wanted a stiffer mount for the octoprint cam on my Maker Select Plus / Wanhao i3. I drilled and bolted the bar stock to the carriage plate, bent up to a suitable position, and pushed the mount on the end of the bar stock. No additional fasteners required when mounted upright.
I purchased a Monoprice Mini Delta and wanted an octoprint camera for it too. The most suitable mounting placement for that printer was on top, hanging down. Friction fit didn't hold very long, so you will need to drill a hole through the mount and the bar for a bolt.
