I recently got an Assassins Creed backpack which I love dearly.
Getting and keeping it closed was an awkward thing, though.
The upper end is to be rolled up and the strap over it was held in place with a
velcro strap which got weak early. Heavily laden with all the food I need at work
it always came loose once I had it on my back and took a breath.
This buckle replaces the velcro, snaps smooth in place and is released by turning
the outer ring some 60° to the left.
Additionally needed is
6 x M3 nuts and screws (8-10 mm, depending on the thickness of your belt or whatever)
4 x spiral springs from a ballpen
Print all parts and two of the latches with 0,1 mm and 20% infill which prooved
to be quite sturdy. All parts are printing well without supports. Only for the buckle you
need to determine yourself whether you want to place some supports (I had), but even there is enough give for bridings. Take care that you have your printer dialed in well, all tolerances between moving parts are only 0,1 mm.
It is up to you whether you want to print just the lid with the embossed blackbird shape
or use the attached inlay (raised) for dual print.
Smoothing some edges with fine sandpaper is required to have all the
parts working together perfectly.
Use glue (my favorite is styrofoam) to fix the base to its place on the outside.
Puncture the holes. Longer screws could be of help to fix the inner plate with
glue if wanted. Put base and inner plate together with nuts and bolts. Do it likewise
with the buckle, belt and outer plate. Place the latches in the base and put the springs in.
The latter can be a pain in the ass...
One of mine popped out and was lost. We have a granite-stone floor and whatever falls
down ( no matter if nuts, screws, pieces of filament) is lost forever...
At least until one of our pugs comes with it in its muzzle using it as chow...
