Also called Narrow-leaved paperbark or Snow in Summer, this small tree, sometimes found as shrub, was used by the crew of Capt. Cook as a tea replacement, hence the common name of Tea Tree, quite misleading, since this species has nothing to do with the real tea plant (Camellia sinensis). It likes humid soils and can survive temporary waterlogged conditions. It is commercially important for the production of an essential oil with anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties.
