The Auditorium Building No. 12 was built in 1933 at a cost of $554 000. The seating capacity of the auditorium is 1001. The memorial organ was dedicated by Willard W. Beatty Director of Indian Education in 1947. In the foyer of the auditorium is the World War I1 Memorial plaque and statue 'Comrade in Mourning.' The Statue by the Apache sculptor Allen Houser grandson of Geronimo was dedicated on January 22 1949. Frank Carlson governor of Kansas gave the dedicatory address. The brass plaque at the base of the statue bears an inscription in recognition of all Indians who served in that war and lists the names of 37 former Haskell students who lost their lives in the conflict. The Alumni Association from the proceeds of the 'Pageant of the Peace Pipe ' given in 1946 purchased the memorial organ and the brass plaques well as the statue itself.
