The Aston Martin AMR-One racing car is designed and co-designed by car originator Prodrive and British team Aston Martin Racing to satisfy Le Mans Prototype (LMP) regulations of the Automobile Club De l'Ouest (CO).
She was originally registered in the LMP1 category for the 2011 season in the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup championship. After a first forfeit at the 12 o'clock Sebring, she raced at 6 o'clock Le Castella, in the first round of the Manoi Le series, where, despite a difficult racing weekend, she crossed the unclassified finish line. In May, the British team opted to abandon the 1,000 kilometers of Spa and focus on preparing for the 24 Hours of Le Mans. But during various test sessions, the two British chassis proved unable to combine for extended periods without engine-related problems. In the race, the two AMR-Ones completed just two and four laps before retiring. After this last action, Aston Martin Racing managers choose to race Lola B09/60-Aston Martin for the remaining rounds of the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup.
The following year, Aston Martin Racing withdrew from the LMP1 category, abandoned AMR-One development for good, and focused on the GTE category in favor of the Aston Martin V8 Vantage GTE. However, the AMR-One frame is enjoying a second wind with the French Pescarolo team, who used to build their Pescarolo 03 for the 2012 FIA World Endurance Championship season. DeltaWing Racing Cars also used the DeltaWing, an innovative prototype with very low aerodynamic drag, to produce. It is ranked 56th at the 2012 24 Hours of Le Mans.
