Armored train Hurban served during the Slovak National Uprising at end of the second World War. It was completed 25th September 1944. 4th October fought at Banska Bystrica, Germans wanted to take it. His task was to stop the enemies, forcing them from a defensive position and destroy the command-observation post about 800 meters northwest of the station Čremošné, thereby allow allies to restore original defence position. German surprise attack by rebel forces supported by fire from train and had to retreat. The train was severely damaged in the fight, but enemy no longer attempt to attack the rebels in this section. Damaged train was moved to railway workshops Zvoleň, where was repaired in two days. After adding his crew 21st October moved to Červená Skala and later to section B. Bystrica - Brezno, Helpa, where cover retreat of rebel forces to B. Bystrica. Yet 23rd October intervened in fight at Helpa. Germans were approaching from all sides. Commander of Hurban ordered to devaluation of weapons and machinery of train in the tunnel Harmanci. Here his crew met with armored train Masaryk, who met the same fate. Combat journey both trains ends here.
