You need:
1 M8 threaded rod (~34 cm)
4 M8 nuts
2 printed parts
optional: M8x1.5 tap (but could be tapped with the threaded rod).
Anet A8
A simple anti-twist exoskeleton for the Z axis, that could benefit XY as well.
I really loved aeropic's designs, but 6mm threaded bolts are not that stiff. For the Z-antiwobble exoskeleton 6mm is the only option, but for the anti-twist 8 mm is not a problem. So I designed this part for the holes on the vertical acrylic side panels of Anet A8. It's a really simple part and a simple mod.
It acts like a torsion bar in a car suspension, so I assume that a 90 degree rotation between the plastic parts could benefit both XY, but I greatly doubt that this would be observed during printing.
Nevertheless it's another mod to make the printer a little bit stiffer, and as overall cost is around 1 euro, it doesn't bother me being there.
In the one I've printed I tried 2 dimensions, the one uploaded is the one with the right tolerances. I used HIPS plastic (High Impact Polystyrene) as I want to get rid off due to warping issues. PLA would be the same.
I love simple designs, so enjoy!
