The current model is a remix of his work.
The original strange object was discovered in 1936 in Saqqara, Egypt. It is made of stone, is very thin and it has a very complicated shape that makes it look like some kind of machine part. The central axis seems to indicate it was spinning and part of a bigger machine or mechanism.
The object in the Cairo museum is about 61 centimeter in diameter and 10 cm in height. Nobody really knows who made it. We also don't know how, when or why was made. Mainstream science says it is at least 5000 years old, but he dynastic egyptians did not have the technology to do it. It is possibly made by an ancient high tech civilization existing thousands of years before the egyptian pharaos of 5000 years ago.

I have remixed the "Frederic model" by removing the central stick and provided a printable version with built-in support. The two stands (white in the pictures) are my designs. The current STL file is about or 145mm in diameter which is a bit less than 1/4 of the original object size (61 cm). As the model is very thin, a layer thickness of 0.15mm or less should be used when printing.
