After I tried a floating mount for my Z-Axis motion, I didn't get a significant improvement in Z banding, so I went in a different direction with this attempt. I stiffened the x end mounts that control the Z motion by reducing the lever arms between the smooth rods and the 6020 aluminum member and between the smooth rods and the lead screws. To do this I had to also tighten up the space between the lead screw and the smooth rod in the X-end mount. This gave me the best results I've gotten yet. The thrust bearings I used are VXB 7x13x4.5 Miniature Thrust Bearings. Just drop them in the pocket on the top of the thrust bearing mount and screw the retaining cap on.
