"stradale" (which in italian means "road") is a name that was often used by italian car manufacturers for versions (often deformed or highly modified) of sports cars suitable for use on public roads. the car was presented to the public at a sports car exhibition in monza, italy, in september 1967. a total of 16 cars were built. the prototype (body number 750.33.01) was sold to the private abarth gallery in japan, a stradale replica with a magnesium alloy body (body number 105.33.12), built in the late 1970s and five concept cars now belong to the alfa romeo museum. in the list of "100 sexiest cars of all time" magazine top gear alfa romeo 33 stradale was presented in 15th place.
