Airless Tire with rim for 3D-Printing Quad-Extruder

The wheel, consisting of a tire and rim, was printed on the Multirap M500 quad extruder combining three materials printed at once: Multec PLA Soft 120, Multec PLA and Multec Smartsupport filament.

This prototype effectively demonstrates the simplicity and speed of 3D printing flexible parts in mass production or as single units. A new feature shown in this tire is the combination of rim, tire and support material in a single print, without any cleaning, reworking or gluing.
In the airless principle, the "air" as a necessary component of the tire is replaced by an internal support framework. Based on this same principle, other components made from high-strength and flexible materials can also be produced during a single printing process.
