The Air Despatch Memorial next to the Arnhem-Oosterbeek Cemetery remembers the role of British and Canadian Air Forces who made valiant attempts to re-supply the Airborne troops on the ground during operation Market Garden. 79 air crew were killed in these dangerous operations, their names inscribed on the bronze memorial panels. Description The ‘Air Despatch Memorial’ in Oosterbeek is a brick memorial stone consisting of three panels. The center panel shows a parachute with supply baskets and the insignias of the Royal Army Service Corps and the Airborne forces carved in stone. Within the parachute a bronze Dakota is attached. At the bottom of the center panel a bronze plaque is attached.
