My main design intent with this, my second version, Trapper Canoe Project was to match the high quality and craftsmanship of the Trapper Canoe brand, and secondly was the ease of use and durability of the holder for the consumer.
This compact rod holder would be made up of aluminum extrusions, RTM(Resin Transfer Molding) parts to go along with Trapper Canoes current process, machined parts from wood & stainless steel, and purchased hardware. The unit is placed on the canoe side and the latching lever is simply pressed down to the locked position. The rod holder is able to be rotated and tilted to the desired angle(s) by loosening and tightening the clamping knob on the side of the center connecting clamps. This method would reduce the manufacturing costs a little, and also simplify the molds.
This design should perform well in all conditions including rough water and sand, while still allowing the ease of removing the
fishing pole once you have a fish, just by grabbing the pole and lifting it out of the holder.
