I created these ER32 collets for holding square high speed steel (HSS) lathe tools in an ER32 workhead for my tool and cutter grinder. For this use, the collets are not under high stress or high speed and work fine.
I have included the common metric and imperial HSS tool sizes I use. i have also included a "blank" 16 compression slot collet so that you can put any size/shape hole through it as you like to make a custom collet.
I have also included a similar set of hex collets, where I have used 12 compression slots (rather than the standard 16) to better grip a hex on the flats and corners.
I have also included a "blank" 12 slot collet to enable you to customise your own hole size/shape as required.
Please note: I did not intend them for holding tools in a mill nor workpieces in a lathe etc where high holding forces are required. Also worth noting, that if tools are ground correctly they should not be too hot to hold, and therefore not too hot for plastic collets for the use I designed them for.
If you make these, please post a make. it is nice to see my designs put to use, and particularly if you make any interesting custom collets from my blanks.
if you like these, any tip that you can make is very greatly appreciated.
