We are Create Prosthetics, a new 3-D printing start-up company, presenting our submission of the Hookhand. The Hookhand sets out to be a new versatile platform for open source innovation, while solving many issues surrounding existing terminal device design. We have created an aesthetically pleasing design that is sculptural, functional and remixable. The Hookhand is also an excellent platform for the prosthetic design community and offers limitless potential for further adaptation.

Our product achieves this by being:

Functional - The Hookhand offers superior functionality, while still maintaining a natural and elegant appearance. The hand has many degrees of motion, it can accept different attachments, and it can also be used to carry bags and other items with a closed looped handle. The base of the terminal device can accept the required bolt to allow it to be connected with all prosthetic sockets.

Easy to produce - Based out of traditional rigid 3d printed plastics, as well as flexible materials for 3d printing. Assembly is quick and slot based, requiring minimal tools or advanced techniques to assemble.

Low on cost - All components can be made from plastic, making it safe and durable for any amputee demographic

Completely remixable - Our submission comes with various plugs that thread into the palm, providing 3 modes of attachment (keyhole, magnetic and bolt threaded attachments). We believe this is one of our strongest features, and will greatly enhance its functionality once we engage the community starting with our release of this design at Hackathon. Several ideas are shown in the renders presented in our submission, but the possibilities for development are truly endless.

At Create prosthetics we have printed and tested one of these designs with fantastic results. We hope that our confidence and testing of this product will inspire you to take this to the next level!
